June 7, 2007

Birmingham, AL hard rock unit MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER's new music video — for the track "Dry the River" — has been posted for online viewing. "Dry the River" is the lead track from the MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER's critically acclaimed new album, "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: II".

The world premiere of the "Dry the River" video marks an industry first as the eagerly anticipated clip becomes the first ever music video to make its debut via the official Hot Topic web site, www.hottopic.com. The conceptual video, a live action recreation of the "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: II" album art, was helmed by director Andrew Paul Bowser and tells the story of "the last night for a gang of criminals" (as portrayed by the members of MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER) whose "lucky streak has finally come to an end." "The 'Dry The River' video was based on the layout of the our new album "II", and it turned out amazing," MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER vocalist Dallas Taylor explains. "To me it feels like watching a short film and I don't think it could have turned out any better — I am so proud of it. The experience was like being a part of something more that just a music video. We put ourselves through a lot of difficult things, like standing in 40-degree water for an extended periods of time, falling down hills and being dragged over rocks. I believe that all of the hard work we put in, coupled with the vision of director Andrew Bowser will ensure that this video comes across as more of an 'experience' for the viewer."

On the topic of hosting the MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER video premiere, the retailer comments, "Hot Topic is very proud to present the world premiere of MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER's new video "Dry the River". "Sharing new music is a really important part of what we do, so to be able to partner with Ferret and MAYLENE on something as cool as this is just great for the community."

Released via New Jersey's Ferret Music, "Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: II" is an album that is conceptual in nature, expounding on the true tales of 1920s gangster Ma Barker and her prohibition era real-life crime family. The record's gritty musical shootouts are filled with intricate guitar riffing and whiskey drenched grooves, while the lyrics take your imagination back to a time when the exploits of gangs of criminals gripped the American people and press. The album debuted at #156 on Billboard's Top 200 chart in its first week of release and has met to shining critical acclaim in the weeks since.

MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER will bring their hard hitting live show on the road when they kick off a massive, six week U.S. tour beginning June 14 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band has also been added to the star-studded cast of the 2007 Vans Warped Tour, where they will perform alongside BAD RELIGION, FISHBONE, SUM 41 and more.
